Due to COVID-19 concerns, Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County launched a virtual and traditional backpack and school supply drive to ensure all Club members will have the necessary school supplies once students are able to return to the classroom. Traditional donation dropoff locations by community partners are still available, but easy to make online donations can be made by clicking www.yougivegoods.com/bgcpbcschooldrive. The new “virtual” drive is a welcome addition to the annual school supply campaign since the need in our community is greater than ever due to the pandemic’s economic impacts.

It’s in these challenging times that our Club families need extra assistance since many are worried more about basic needs rather than budgeting for school supplies. There is already concern that our Club members have been greatly impacted by distance learning inequities because of a lack of internet service or hardware devices.  As such, it’s even more important this year that our students are prepared to start a new school year.

The addition of the virtual school supply drive makes it easy for donors to buy supplies. Donors can pick individual items or a bundle of supplies that will be distributed to the Club members with the most need.

From June 1 until July 27, community members and organizations can also donate or host a traditional donation drive in their neighborhood or office. Gift cards to office supply stores or retail vendors are also welcomed and will be used to purchase needed supplies. 

Suggested supplies include backpacks, composition notebooks (wide ruled), spiral notebooks, construction paper, copy paper, pencils, pens, colored pencils, markers, crayons, highlighters, post-it notes, glue sticks, tape rolls, student scissors, and other office supplies.
