On March 28, Carrier hosted Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County members for a Scratch Video Game Design Competition at the Carrier Center for Intelligent Building. Over the course of 10 weeks, Club members dedicated themselves to mastering the art of coding, culminating in the creation of their own unique video games. At the competition, participants had the opportunity to present their creations to a panel of four judges from Carrier, allowing them to not only showcase their technical skills but also hone their public speaking abilities. This event was not just a showcase of creativity, but a testament to the power of learning and innovation.
The event was a milestone for many of the Club members, marking their first experience into the world of coding and game design. Their hard work and dedication didn’t go unnoticed, as judges, staff, and volunteers were inspired by their ingenuity and presentations. To recognize their efforts, all participating Club members received gaming headsets, while club winners were awarded Amazon Gift Cards. The top three overall winners received prizes ranging from Bluetooth gaming speakers for 2nd and 3rd place to a gaming monitor, keyboard, and controller stand for the 1st place winner. As the competition drew to a close, it was clear that the true prize was the knowledge gained and the skills developed along the way.
