GL Homes Helps Combat Hunger During Hunger Awareness Month

In observance of Hunger Action Month in September, Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County, with the generous support of GL Homes, continues to raise awareness about the widespread issue of hunger in South Florida. Currently, nearly 53,000 children in Palm Beach County struggle to access sufficient daily food, making the Clubs’ Hunger Relief Programs critical. To commemorate this month, GL Homes made a substantial $15,000 contribution to bolster the hunger relief efforts at the Delray Beach and Boca Raton Clubs throughout the entire month.

On September 7th, GL Homes took an extra step by organizing a special dinner for over 150 members of the Boys & Girls Club of Delray Beach. The Club members got to enjoy a delightful meal featuring lasagna, chicken tenders, sliders, broccoli, salad, and a delicious cookie for dessert. This feast was catered by Feeding South Florida and was served to the members by dedicated GL Homes volunteers.

“If it weren’t for our hunger relief programs, nearly all of our Club families, who reside at or below the poverty line, would face even greater hardships,” said Grace Madden, Marketing & Events Manager for Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County. “We express our gratitude to GL Homes for their generous donation, which enables the Clubs to persist in their crucial mission of combating hunger in our local communities.”

This year, Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County aims to distribute more than 675,000 nutritious snacks and hot meals. On school days, the Clubs offer both a snack and dinner, while on non-school days, they provide breakfast, lunch, and additional snacks. These Hunger Relief programs have consistently held great significance for the Clubs, as they recognize that a child’s ability to succeed is hindered when hunger occupies their thoughts.

With their generous donation, GL Homes is challenging others to donate to help Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County continue their Hunger Relief programs. If you would like to donate, click on the button below.
