Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County (BGCPBC) is delighted to announce the appointment of the Honorable Danielle H. Moore as the new chairman of the board. Wally Turner, who served in the role for the last 13 years, passed the gavel and will remain part of the board of directors. Moore and Turner have both served on the board of BGCPBC for two decades.

Moore is president of the Mary Alice Fortin Foundation and is a member of the Palm Beach Town Council. She serves on the executive committee of the board of the Town of Palm Beach United Way; is on the board of Rosarian Academy; and is an active member of The Garden Club of Palm Beach. Also, she sits on the board of several private foundations.

Born in New York City, Moore moved to Palm Beach as a child and has called the island home ever since. She is an avid golfer with a single digit handicap, who is a Director of the Women’s Southern Golf Association. A mother of two, she is a licensed Realtor Associate with Brown Harris Stevens.

Turner is also a licensed Realtor. He became one of the leading producers for Sotheby’s International both locally and internationally, achieving a position in the top 1% of the firm worldwide. He serves on the board of directors of the Town of Palm Beach United Way.

During Turner’s chairmanship, BGCPBC has opened five new clubhouses becoming the largest facility-based youth development organization in the area. He helped to direct BGCPBC during a period of growth in which the number of children served increased from 4,000 to 8,500 and its operating budget quadrupled from $3.5 million to $13 million.

Turner co-founded Barefoot on the Beach, one of the Palm Beach social season’s most popular and widely attended events. He has been a key figure in the organization serving as its face in the community helping to raise awareness of BGCPBC. Via his connections and leadership, he has helped to attract a number of influential donors and supporters to the organization.

“I can’t think of a better person to take on the role of chairman of the board,” stated Turner. “Dani already has a passion for the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs and she brings a wealth of experience to the table.”

Moore has devoted a lot of her time and resources to helping others, especially children. Via the Mary Alice Fortin Foundation, she recently awarded seven area teens four-year Florida PrePaid Scholarships.

The construction of the Marjorie S. Fisher and Max M. Fisher Boys & Girls Club clubhouses for which Moore led the capital campaign, has allowed more families in the county to be able to enroll their kids in the affordable after-school and summer programs. Some of the children from these families attend at no cost since membership at the Clubs does not depend on their ability to pay the annual fee of $30.

“I’ve witnessed the powerful impact that Boys & Girls Clubs have on its members and I am excited to continue having a role in transforming the lives of youth in this community,” said Moore. “The focus of my tenure as chairman of the board is to improve program quality, serve more kids, and provide a world-class Club experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who walks through a Club door.”
