Boys & Girls Clubs of PBC announces new board members

Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County is pleased to announce the election of five members to its Board of Directors. Newly elected board members include Michael M. Connors, Edward F. Dunn, Jeff Fiser, Mary Freitas, and Margaret A. Zeidman.

Connors is a director of DASAN Zhone Solutions, Inc. as well as The Connors Foundation. In the 1990s, he served as the President of AOL Technologies, turning it from a small operation into the largest dial-up network in the world and making the interactive experience accessible to millions of people. Previously, Connors was an IBM executive for 25 years. He lives in Palm Beach with his wife, Julie.

Dunn has been the vice president, supply chain for UTC Climate, Controls & Security since 2006. Previously, he was vice president of materials for Rheem Manufacturing and has held finance and operations roles at United Technologies Corporation and KPMG. He served on the School of Business advisory boards at Howard University and Quinnipiac University as well as the Board of Northwest Catholic High School in Connecticut. He lives in Palm Beach Gardens with his wife Mary Jo and two of their four children.

Fiser is the president and CEO of Tropical Shipping, where he also oversees Tropical’s subsidiaries (i.e. Caribtrans, VI Cargo, Deluxe Freight and Seven Seas Insurance Co.).  Fiser has been in the transportation industry for more than 30 years. He lives in Jupiter with his wife, Lois.

Freitas serves on the executive committee of the Board of Trustees of the Town of Palm Beach United Way. She has twice served as Chairman of Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County’s gala, helping to raise more than $1 million for the organization. Freitas and her husband Mark are the founders of the Mark and Mary Freitas Foundation. They live in Palm Beach with their two sons and daughter.

Zeidman is president pro tem of the Palm Beach Town Council. She is vice chairman of the Board of Directors of the Palm Beach Fellowship of Christians & Jews. Previously, Zeidman was the director of nursing at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. She has been recognized as a leader in health care for her expertise in cardiovascular nursing. Her work has been published in nursing textbooks and professional journals. She has lived in Palm Beach for 21 years with her husband, Mark.

“Our newest board members are some of the brightest minds who also have a deep commitment to serving others. I’m excited to have their fresh perspective to help drive the organization to the next level,” stated Board Chairman Hon. Danielle H. Moore.  “With Impact 2020, our five-year strategic plan in place, the time is right to draw on our community’s influencers to implement the vision and continue to meet the growing needs of the youth we serve.”
