The 2026 Youth of the Year finalists recently spent an inspiring and educational day at the Youth Energy Academy, hosted by Florida Power & Light. The experience offered the finalists a unique opportunity to connect directly with professionals in the energy industry while exploring exciting and impactful career pathways.
Throughout the day, finalists learned firsthand what it takes to keep communities powered every single day. From behind-the-scenes insights to engaging conversations with industry leaders, the academy provided a meaningful look into the innovation, teamwork, and dedication required to power homes and businesses across Florida.
The day concluded with a hands-on challenge that brought learning to life. Finalists participated in a friendly competition by building mini model generators using everyday materials such as cardboard, wire, and magnets. After constructing their models, they measured the voltage they created, putting engineering concepts into practice and showcasing their creativity and problem-solving skills.
We are incredibly grateful to Florida Power & Light for opening their doors, investing in our teens, and connecting with them on both a professional and personal level. Experiences like this empower our Youth of the Year finalists to envision bright futures and explore careers they may not have previously considered.
A special thank you to Ms. Rebecca and Ms. Chilondra for spearheading this incredible experience and helping make this impactful day possible for our teens.
