To benefit the mental wellbeing of its Club members, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Delray Beach officially opened up its new Wellness and Life Skills Lounge. Thanks to a generous donation from GL Homes, the Boys & Girls Club of Delray was able to completely transform one of its rooms into a safe space for its children to decompress, calm their emotions, and learn how to deal with trauma.

“This room is cool and special because it uses interactive elements as a modernized approach to improving wellbeing and life skills. We know that this will provide our members with tools that they can implement for a lifetime of better mental health,” Candace Burrs, Regional Impact Director for Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County. “We are able to provide the foundational skills that will lead to a better emotional future for these children, because of our corporate partners like GL Homes.”

GL Homes donated $16K in total to create two wellbeing and life skills lounges, one at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Delray Beach and the other at the Florence DeGeorge Boys & Girls Clubs of West Palm Beach.

The Wellness and Life Skills Lounges will serve as an outlet for its members to express their emotions, a place to calm down, discuss their emotions and learn to deal with trauma. The room is themed to the outside as the room is painted light blue like the sky, clouds hanging and has an impressive tree mural. It also includes:

· Comfortable seating.

· Sensory toys.

· VR headsets that can transport the kids to thousands of choices of relaxation destinations.

· Smart mirrors for yoga.

· Tablets for writing down emotions.

· Special lighting and aromas.

“As long-time supporter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County, it is important to our organization that we support the whole child. This includes providing nutrition, physical fitness, and emotional well-being,” said Sarah Alsofrom, VP of Community Relations with GL Homes. “With the trauma and emotional issues many children face today, this space is the ideal sanctuary to recharge and rebalance. We hope to inspire other community leaders to step up and bring more of these wellbeing rooms to Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Palm Beach County.”
