Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County mourns the loss of a leader, champion and most importantly, a friend. Neil S. Hirsch was a longtime supporter of Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County and was instrumental in the growth and success of the Wellington Club, named after him, Neil S. Hirsch Family Boys & Girls Club.

“Neil Hirsch will be remembered by many for his business savvy, witty personality, love of singing and generosity to his friends and the community. We will remember him for all those wonderful things and for his love of the children in our Wellington community. His support for the Club far exceeded his name on a building,” said President & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County Jaene Miranda.

In 2012 Hirsch made the leading gift to construct a 22,500 square foot facility. The generous donation made it possible for the Wellington Club to more than triple in size in an area of increasing need. Since opening in 2013, Neil S. Hirsch Family Boys & Girls Clubs has helped thousands of children reach their full potential.

Hirsch remained active with the Club. He was instrumental in introducing many new supporters to the Club by inviting them to annual fundraisers, including the Great Futures Polo Day and World Championship Equestrian Triathlon, and taking them on Club tours to see the children and programming in action.

“Neil was not one to give to our children at a distance – whether it was handing out turkeys at Thanksgiving or gifts during the holidays, the children knew him by name ‘Thank you, Mr. Neil.’ Our organization is stronger because of his inability to say no, and our Wellington children will always have a safe place to go every day after school and in the summer breaks because of what he helped to build. We promise to honor Neil’s legacy for generations to come by continuing his work to help our deserving Wellington children and families that truly need us most. Our heartfelt condolences go to the Hirsch family,” said Miranda.

Neil S. Hirsch, passed away on June 24 at the age of 74.
