Project FACT Celebrates Father Figures

Father-Daughter (7)

For the second year in a row, Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County’s Project FACT program hosted it’s Father–Daughter Dinner Dance event to celebrate the importance of father figures on Saturday, February 13. To be socially responsible, this year’s celebration was a drive-thru event held at the Bill & Jane Cheney Neighborhood Resource Center parking lot.

“COVID or no COVID, fathers matter. Even more than ever in this time, the roles that fathers play in the lives of their children is important,” said Project FACT Manager Shamus Gordon. “With this annual event that happens the Saturday before Valentine’s Day, we want to provide the opportunity for fathers to celebrate the special love that they share with their daughters.”

Guests arrived at the Bill & Jane Cheney Neighborhood Resource Center parking lot filled with music, decorations and a photo booth. Fresh roses and $40 gift cards to Olive Garden and Red Lobster were  distributed to ensure that fathers can enjoy a safe and celebratory dinner with their daughters whenever they choose.

In attendance was the Mayor of Riviera Beach Ronnie L. Felder, Police Chief of the Riviera Beach Police Department Nathan E. Osgood and other Riviera Beach council members. Volunteers from Jack and Jill of America, Inc. Palm Beach Chapter, Riviera Beach Police Department, and graduates from the 24/7 Dad program  were present as well.

WPTV News Channel 5 and WPBF Channel 25 captured the event and highlighted the importance of recognizing fathers in the community and the roles that they play in their children’s lives.
