This month, Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County, in collaboration with AmeriCorps and Volunteer Florida swore in 29 AmeriCorps Members who will serve across 13 Club sites. This diverse group pf AmeriCorps Members include high school students, college students, recent graduates, and professionals. The one thing they all have in common? Their shared passion for youth development and community service.
“As the year unfolds, the Great Futures AmeriCorps Program will continue to serve as a bridge between service and opportunity, building connections that strengthen our Clubs, our communities, and the lives of every young person reached,” Jada Diogostine, Great Futures AmeriCorps Program Manager.
This year, our AmeriCorps Members are anticipated to make a significant impact by serving over 300 youth in grades 6–12 who participate in year-round Career Bound programming.
Members will provide one-on-one and small group mentoring, academic intervention and tutoring, and interest-based developmental activities tailored to meet the unique needs of each young person. These 30–60 minute sessions will take place Monday through Friday throughout the school year and summer.
