City of Boca Raton Proclaims Boys & Girls Club Day on February 6, 2015

Boca Raton, FL (February 9, 2015) –  The City of Boca Raton rallied around the Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton for  “Boys & Girls Club Day of Boca Raton,” officially proclaimed by Mayor Susan Haynie on Friday, February 6, 2015.

Boca Raton Mayor Susan Haynie; Councilman Robert Weinroth; Boca Raton Chief of Police Dan Alexander, Troy McClellan, president of the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce; Andre Varona, president of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; Bernadette Russell, provost of Palm Beach State College; George Petrocelli from the Boca Raton Resort & Club; Board members of the Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton and others celebrated this historic occasion on Friday.

The Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton wishes to thank the Boca Raton Resort & Club for generously underwriting a family fun BBQ on the Club campus, complete with entertainment provided by DJ Robert.  The Board also thanks Kathryn Gillespie for her persistence, attention to detail, and her generosity with her time and her financial commitment to the well-being of The Boys and Girls Club of Boca Raton.

Mayor Susan Haynie signed the proclamation on behalf of the City Commission and is calling upon Boca Raton residents to join in recognizing and commending the Boys & Girls Club in the area for its commitment to promoting the education and improving the lives of children and at-risk youth in the community.

The Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton serves more than 120 children. The Club’s mission is to inspire and enable all young people; especially those that need it the most to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. The Club provides a safe, fun, and educational environment after school and during the summer.  Children participate in a variety of programs in the arts; career development; sports, fitness and recreation; technology; character and leadership development; and health education.
