Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County is extremely thankful to all community partners that participated in this year’s backpack and school supply drive. Despite the difficult circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic, generosity from community partners made the annual drive a huge success.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County continues to be on the frontlines of the COVID-19 recovery efforts by doing whatever it takes to help all Club members and families. Local Clubs expect a record need of backpacks and school supplies this year. Fortunately, many generous donors came to the rescue, making it possible to supply ALL Club members with the school essentials needed to help reduce a growing achievement gap created by distance learning.
Unlike previous years, the pandemic made it more challenging to collect school supplies from traditional drop-off locations. As a result, Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County focused on a virtual drive, which allowed donors to safely and easily purchase a single item or a pre-selected package that was shipped directly to the Clubs. Traditional donation drop-off locations were also available for community partners who were able to host a drive.
Ultimately, Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County extends a huge thank you to all the companies, organizations and individuals who went above and beyond to donate backpacks and school supplies this year. Club members are also thankful to WPBF for shedding light on the importance of this drive and spreading the word of the increased need.
Despite the obstacles, this year’s backpack & school supply drive will make sure that Club members are fully equipped for distance learning and ready to succeed.
