AmeriCorps promotes civic responsibility and provides educational benefits to participants who commit to national service.

The Great Futures AmeriCorps Program began at the  Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County, Inc. in 2018 and has had over 125 AmeriCorps Member serve out sites consistently over the years of the program's existence. AmeriCorps members will support our Career Bound College and Career Readiness Program providing out-of-school academic support, mentoring, service-learning, and pre-college and college enrollment services to 300 youth in grades 6-12 at 7 stand-alone Clubs and 6 middle and high schools across Palm Beach County, Florida.

Requirements

U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, or Legal Permanent Resident
Must be at least 17 years old
Must have a GED or high school diploma
Must be able to commit at least one (1) year of service at a Club or Great Futures site

What to Expect

AmeriCorps members can expect a dynamic and impactful experience focused on youth development, education, and community engagement.

  • Mentor and provide academic support to high school students
  • Assist with college and career readiness programs
  • Participate in community service initiatives such as tutoring, mentoring, and disaster relief
  • Develop skills in leadership, teamwork, conflict resolution, community outreach, and youth development
  • Members will receive a living allowance, an education award upon completion, training and professional development
