Wellington Boys & Girls Club gym naming honors local philanthropists

On Tuesday, May 14, Neil S. Hirsch Family Boys & Girls Club of Wellington hosted a special pep rally to unveil its gymnasium’s new name – Olexa Celine and Vira Hladun Goldman Gym. It was named in honor of Olexa Celine, owner of Sebilion Farm Polo Team, and her late mother Vira Hladun Goldman, a philanthropist and a basketball enthusiast.

Celine presented a $500,000 check to the Club in support of its newly launched endowment campaign, which gives Club members the opportunity to have a better and more secure future. The ceremony included a three-point shootout competition, a special presentation from Club members and a sparkling cider toast.

“I believe Boys & Girls Clubs are such a good and necessary cause for our community,” said Celine. “I love Wellington, as I have lived here for 20 years. My mother and my father have been friends with Neil Hirsch for a very long time. We were honored and excited to be part of his passion for the Club and the boys and girls. Neil has such a big heart, and it’s a beautiful thing to be part of.”

Known for her love and passion for basketball, Hladun Goldman chaired the 2017 Great Futures Polo Day alongside Hirsch, her lifetime friend. Although she only visited the Club a few times before falling ill, she made an immense impact on the lives she touched, especially on Club Members.
