2023 Youth of the Year Finalists at the Gardens Mall

Shop ’til you drop! On Saturday, January 14, The Gardens Mall treated seven Youth of the Year finalists from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County to a shopping spree. The young leaders each received a $750 gift card and a complimentary lunch at Shake Shack.

“We are delighted to reward these exceptional kids with a day of retail therapy,” said Whitney Pettis Jester Director of Marketing & Merchant Relations at The Gardens Mall. “We support the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s mission of providing bright, successful futures to the next generation of leaders.”

Youth of the Year is a Boys & Girls Clubs of America premier recognition program, celebrating the extraordinary achievements of Club members across the country. Each year, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County choose seven outstanding young leaders to compete to be named the Palm Beach County Youth of the Year. The chosen winner then competes in the state competition for the chance to move on to the regional competition, and finally the national competition.

“The annual shopping day at The Gardens Mall serves as a confidence booster for all of our Youth of the Year finalists, but more importantly, it builds their professional wardrobes.” said Chilondra Sheppard, Senior Career Bound Manager “Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County goal is to ensure our members have a plan for the future and it begins with looking and feeling your best. We thank The Gardens Mall for providing this exclusive experience for our Club members.”

On February 3, the finalists will demonstrate their leadership abilities, academic success, and cultivating experiences with a speech at a formal dinner in West Palm Beach. The Youth of the Year program highlights the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County’s impact on 10,000 young people annually in our area. The organization continues its Mary Alice Fortin Foundation scholarship program this year. The program provides a four-year Florida Prepaid College scholarship to each of the seven Youth of the Year finalists, and a four-year university scholarship, including room, board, and applicable fees, to the Palm Beach County Youth of the Year winner.

The 2023 Palm Beach County Youth of the Year finalists are: Kelvin Rolle from Florence De George Boys & Girls Club of West Palm Beach; Kimberly Pierre from Marjorie S. Fisher Boys & Girls Club of West Palm Beach; Eric Wilson from Max M. Fisher Boys & Girls Club of Rivera Beach; Frank Zamor from Boys & Girls Club of Delray Beach; Lynnshelsie Antoine from Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton; Jada Lovely from Smith & Moore Family Teen Center of Belle Glade; and Alonza Lloyd from Neil S.
