From April 10th-12th, Bike the Keys will hit the road for the 7th year in a row to help build Great Futures at Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County! This year, the fundraiser will be more dynamic than ever!
Bike the Keys started in 2020 when three cycling friends were looking for a new South Florida bike adventure and way to raise money for the community during the pandemic. Since then, Bike the Keys has raised over $45k. Last year specifically, the riders raised $5,817.00 through Bike the Keys. The funds from last year’s marathon went to Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County’s Career & Workforce Readiness program. This program funded career fields trips during the summer, monthly career speaker series, and provided stipends for teens who held internships and apprenticeships preparing them for the workforce.
Before the riders begin their journey to Key West, they will be hosting a pre-race event on March 29th in Tequesta. The event will focus on fitness and wellness activities and feature a run club at 9am followed by a yoga session at 10am. Vendors such as chiropractors, a sports masseuse, and local food and drink businesses will be there for attendees to explore! Tickets are $25 for entry and other donations to Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County are welcome.
“This is all of our favorite events of the year! We get to challenge ourselves by doing something physically demanding, but doing this to see the benefit this brings to Boys and Girls Club and actually getting to meet the kids is one of the best experiences and one we will continue to do year after year to support our local community,” said Ally Furbay, Bike the Keys Organizer.
