The Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County is proud to announce that seven of its Clubs families received $7,000 each as part of the Mary Alice Fortin Foundation’s Christmas in July donation. The Mary Alice Fortin Foundation, based in Palm Beach, started the Christmas in July program in 2011 to alleviate the lack of funding for non-profits during the summer. Each year the organization accepts applications from selected local non-profits to learn of its seven most deserving families in need of monetary relief.

The seven families selected with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County had heartbreaking circumstances. The seven recipients that were awarded the Christmas in July $7,000 donation were:
⦁ A deaf mother who is raising five children after her husband passed away.
⦁ A single mother trying to recover from tragic shooting witnessed by children.
⦁ Teen siblings recovering from their mother’s passing.
⦁ A mom who lost her husband to COVID and struggling to support a family of four.
⦁ A nine-year old who lost a parent and has an ailing guardian.
⦁ A single mom working two jobs to support her seven children.
⦁ A foster guardian caring for two young girls.

“The Mary Alice Fortin Foundation has been a gracious and long-time supporter of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County. We can’t thank them enough for this stunning support of our Club families most in need. The summer months are sometimes the most difficult and this $7,000 donation to each family will make a massive difference in their lives. The reason we can help so many families and young people in Palm Beach County is because of the support we get from amazing organizations such as the Mary Alice Fortin Foundation,” said Jaene Miranda, president & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County.

This is the fifth year that Mary Alice Fortin Foundation has bestowed its Christmas in July support having previously donated funds to families in 2011, 2014, 2017, 2020, and now in 2023. “This program is designed to make a difference in people’s lives at a time of year when it is easy to forget those in need in our community. We are proud to support these seven families with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach and hope that our donation not only got them through the summer, but can play a vital role in the future success of the family,” said Danielle H. Moore, Director & President of the Mary Alice Fortin Foundation.

The Mary Alice Fortin Foundation’s incredible support of the Boys & Girl’s Club of Palm Beach County includes its Youth of the Year awards. The Foundation grants each of the seven Youth of the Year finalists with a four-year Florida college scholarship and the winner of Youth of the Year also gets the scholarship plus room and board for all four years.
