Cultural Arts

Providing Cultural Enrichment

Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County brings Cultural Arts to all 20 Clubs county-wide, featuring visual arts, dance, theater, music and sound production and digital media. Specialized programming provides a vehicle for self-expression and an opportunity for members to discover new interests and untapped talents. Our members have won a number of visual and performing arts awards this year. Club members participated in the production of the Lion King and the annual county-wide Step Show and attended Palm Beach County-wide performances at the Kravis Center for Performing Arts featuring Palm Beach Opera and Boca Ballet. The Visual arts programming, enhanced though numerous partnerships with organizations and universities such as the Norton Museum of Art, Lighthouse Arts Center and Florida Atlantic University, includes photography, painting and ceramics. Our partners guide members via the creation of artworks throughout the year, culminating in annual exhibitions at these partners’ student galleries. Our Lyricism 101 music introduction program gives Club members the opportunity to work with professional artists to learn the art of recording, mixing and mastering within a recording studio.

Professional teaching artists and staff provide projects and opportunities to expand and build skill in drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media artworks, and member work is entered annually into local, regional and national competitions, including the Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Arts Contest.

Dance teams from our clubs perform at schools and competitions throughout our region.  Led by staff instructors, members explore lyrical, contemporary and percussive dance styles and enthusiastically learn movement as a form of personal expression.  Members also engage in aerobic dance activities led by staff to expand personal fitness and wellness practice.

Members learn from professional photographers and teaching artists and to create and curate portraits of their daily lives and explore their curiosity about the cultures all around them.  Members build photographic books and zines,  participate in the local, regional and national competitions and gallery shows including the Boys & Girls Clubs of America National Arts Contest and an annual juried show presented in partnership with Florida Atlantic University Galleries.
