On Monday, December 10, Boys & Girls Club members faced off in the semi-annual Ballroom Dance Competition. More than 30 couples danced their hearts out during the holiday edition of this dance exhibition, which took place at our Florence De George Boys & Girls Club. Taking home first place were Mia C. and Jelani B. from the Marjorie S. Fisher Boys & Girls Club of West Palm Beach.
Second place went to Olivia G. and Kelvin W. from de Max M. Fisher Boys & Girls Club of Riviera Beach. Third place went to Ayla J. and Gabriel H. from Boca Raton Boys & Girls Clubs.
Contestants danced to the rhythms of Bruno Mars, Billy Joel and Michael Jackson. Judges included dancer and owner of Fred Astaire Jupiter, Sergei Aliev; actress and producer, Suzanne Niedland; and journalist and children’s book writer, Robert Forbes. The event was hosted by George Stamas, President of DanceSport Academy Inc.
Our Ballroom Dance Program is possible thanks to the generosity and influence of Hillie Mahoney. The Ballroom Dance Program will re-start in January 2019 for its spring session.
