Makalah Browning, the 2026 Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County, has been busy visiting local news stations! This month, Makalah visited both WPBF25 and WPEC12 to tell her personal story and share her Youth of the Year experience. Accompanied by Director of Corporate Partnerships and Youth of the Year Program Leader, Chilondra Sheppard, Makalah explained how she learned about, qualified for, and prepared to become Youth of the Year. In addition to the program, Makalah explained that her time at the Club was more than just an afterschool activity; it gave her a true sense of belonging and support.
Makalah plans on attending college in the fall with a major in social work. She aims to become a positive force advocating for other foster children whose situations she knows all too well. Makalah hopes to inspire younger Club members to follow in her footsteps and apply for the Youth of the Year Program where they can take their future into their own hands.
