Florida First Lady Visits Florence de George Boys & Girls Club of West Palm Beach

La Tricia Jenkins and First Lady Scott-1000

Florida First Lady Ann Scott visited the Club children at the Florence De George Boys & Girls Club in West Palm Beach, Florida on June 4, 2014. She completed an art project with a group of the older girls at the Club using tin foil and markers. First Lady Scott answered lots of questions about the governor’s mansion, what it’s like to have security with her at all times, and showed pictures of her children, grandchildren, and the family dog. The older girls presented the First Lady with a beautiful map of Florida they created with tinfoil.

She also read a story to the younger children at the Club and enjoyed taking pictures with them after. An avid reader, the First Lady spends time visiting students at schools and libraries across Florida, encouraging them to read and write. She believes that great readers become great learners, and early learning leads to academic success.
