Endowment
Help secure the clubs' ability to serve future generations.
Endowment gifts ensure our youth population today will continue to be served tomorrow by strengthening the organization in perpetuity.
Our vision is to reduce our dependency on cyclical government funding by inviting individuals and corporate investment in our organization to:
- Ensure that every child who needs one has a Club to go to and will always have a Club to go to.
- Reduce the gap between the numbers of youth in need in our community and the number we are currently able to serve.
- Provide for the cost of maintaining our facilities and ensuring adequate staffing every year.
- Give each child an equal opportunity to reach their full potential, and it is our responsibility to help them achieve this.
The Club’s endowment fund is professionally managed under the direction of the Board of Governors and Finance Committee. By policy, only the endowment income, up to 5% annually, is spent on program needs, thus protecting the principal in perpetuity.
There are an array of existing endowments which are earmarked to support programs including literacy & career development, after-school programs, sports programs, and more. Generally, unrestricted gifts to the endowment are added to the general endowment fund and a limited portion of the income from this fund is used annually to support the operations of the Club. Larger gifts may be restricted by agreement between the donor and the Club for specific, ongoing use – such as one of our five core program areas, building maintenance, key positions, scholarships or specialized initiatives below – and may be named to honor the donor, his or her family or some other worthy honoree.
