Club Members and Staff Handout 1000 Turkeys, Vegetables and Gas

Project Fact Turkey 1

Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County’s Project FACT participated in one of the largest Thanksgiving feast giveaways in South Florida on Saturday, November 21. Club members and staff distributed one thousand turkeys and large harvest baskets of fresh vegetables to Riviera Beach residents. After receiving all of the makings of an incredible feast, drivers also received ten dollars of free gas. The event was coordinated by the city of Riviera Beach, Christ Fellowship and Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County.

“This is an incredible way for our Club members, Club parents and staff to give back to the community. It’s important that everyone have a bountiful holiday,” Said Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County’s Project FACT Director, Shamus Gordon.

Project FACT stands for Fathers and Children Together. It’s a new Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County program that helps fathers become more involved in their children’s lives. The program also helps to strengthen relationships in the community. Many of the volunteers and mentors for Project FACT are officers of the Riviera Police Department.

“It’s important for police officers to build relationships in our community. As a father of two daughters, I feel as though I can help pass along my experience as a father by volunteering with Project FACT while helping to show that police officers care about our families and are truly here to help, ” said Major Spenser Rozier of the Riviera Beach Police Department.
