In its 20th year, Barefoot on the Beach is making a return after not being held for two years due to the pandemic. The event promises to be better than ever and live up to its reputation as the must-attend event as the Palm Beach social season culminates. This year guests will be entertained with New York fashion and social A-lister Marjorie Gubelmann, also known as “Queen Bee of the DJs,” DJ Mad Marj. The event will take place on Thursday, April 28, with more than 400 guests gathering at The Breakers Palm Beach, Beach Club located at 1 S. County Rd., Palm Beach, Fla. Known for its playful, relaxed elegance, the French Polynesian theme will perfectly compliment the beachside atmosphere. Funds raised benefit critical programming at 17 Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County.
“I am honored to be part of Barefoot on the Beach because of the Clubs’ mission to help children reach their full potential,” said Co-Chairman Margaret Duriez. “Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County does such tremendous work to improve the lives of thousands of children, which is a cause that’s critically important to me.”
“This event is always a fun way to wrap up the busy Palm Beach social season. It’s a more laid-back, fun event that benefits so many children in our community,” explained Barefoot on the Beach Co-Chair Maura Zika Christu.
Guests clad in all-white attire will enjoy a leisurely cocktail hour followed by a buffet dinner, upbeat entertainment and live auction with exclusive travel packages and one-of-a-kind experiences. New this year is the addition of Lilly Pulitzer as a Corporate Sponsor. Their iconic Palm Beach designs will be featured throughout the event to add to the tropical ambiance.
In addition to Co-Chairs Maura Ziska Christu and Margaret Duriez, Honorary Chairs include Olympia and Brooks Bishop, and Kayla and Taylor Collins. Founding Chairmen are Reid Boren, Thomas Quick and Wally Turner, while Craig Gibson, Jr, Casey Taylor, Alexandra Taylor Kavanugh and Zack Kavanugh are the committee’s junior chairmen. Grand benefactors include Olexa H. Celine, Thomas Quick and Eddy and John Taylor.
