Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County Annual Go Hard or Go Home Step Show was a roaring success! Teams from Clubs located throughout the county gathered at Smith & Moore Family Teen Center gymnasium on March 11th to compete for the coveted bragging rights that come with the win. As family, friends, community members and more gathered to enjoy the event, they were treated to amazing displays of stepping techniques, creativity and showmanship. Each Club team created elaborate routines that incorporated aspects of step dance, cheerleading, and urban dance in 5-7 minute long dance skits while wearing costumes and using props and different pieces from iconic musical numbers to add multiple dimensions to each performance. All proceeds from the event benefitted Boys & Girls Clubs of the Glades Area.
“Our members and staff did a fantastic job preparing performances that were engaging, inspiring, dynamic and fun,” said Casandra Tanenbaum, Cultural Arts Program Manager for Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County. “It’s obvious that our members have talents and abilities in the performing arts and it’s really great to see them showcase their skills for the community in wholesome events like this. We are extremely proud of our Clubs.”
5 elementary teams competed including, Boys & Girls Clubs at Pioneer Park Elementary, Canal Point Elementary, Rosenwald Elementary, Belle Glade Elementary, and Glade View Elementary. Boys & Girls Club at Gove Elementary also performed a short dance, but were not part of the competition. Boys & Girls Club at Rosenwald Elementary “All Stars” came in first place, Boys & Girls Club at Canal Point “The Dazzlers” placed second, and Boys & Girls Club at Glade View Elementary “Galaxy Steppers” came in third place. Smith & Moore Family Teen Center was the only team in the middle & high school category, making them win by default.
