Max Entertainment “The Ultimate Michael Jackson Experience” Is a THRILLER
Proceeds Benefit Club Members at the Max M. Fisher Boys & Girls Club
RIVIERA BEACH, Florida (April 27, 2015) – Eissey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State College hosted Max Entertainment “The Ultimate Michael Jackson Experience” on Thursday, April 16. The annual fundraiser for the Max M. Fisher Boys & Girls Club raised $45,000 for the local Riviera Beach Club. This year’s chairwoman was Dr. Jean Wihbey, provost of Palm Beach State College and chairwoman of the Max M. Fisher Board of Directors.
The Max Entertainment event kicked off with a pre-show reception in the Eissey Campus Theatre lobby, featuring a silent auction, refreshments and hors d’oeuvres donated by Whole Foods West Palm Beach. The silent auction included a deluxe guest room at the Wyndam Grand Jupiter in Harbourside Place, a dolphin encounter for two at the Miami Seaquarium, an Everglades necklace and Alley Gator earrings from Lilly Pulitzer, a 42” Sharp television from Best Buy Palm Beach Gardens and more.
Club members from the Max M. Fisher Boys & Girls Club were there to greet guests, describe daily activities at the Club and enjoy the show with their families. Two teen members, Alexia and Morris, had the opportunity to speak to attendees on stage, expressing how vital the Club is to them and describing the teen employability program within the Club at the Print Shop.
“Alexia and Morris are shining examples of how the Boys & Girls Clubs can change a child’s life,” said Dr. Jean Wihbey.
The pre-show was followed by “The Ultimate Michael Jackson Experience”. The multimedia concert tribute production was a ninety minute celebration of the music and dancing of the World Famous “King of Pop”. It starred Joby Rogers, personally selected by Michael Jackson as his number one choice of all impersonators after reviewing 116 of the top Michael Jackson impersonators in the world. Joby’s stunning resemblance to Jackson combined with the intricate dance moves of the genius himself presented an exhilarating performance preserving the legacy and spirit of this entertainment icon. It was an evening to remember for the four hundred attendees.
This year’s sponsors played a vital role in the success of the event. The Boys & Girls Clubs was fortunate to have Ed Morse Honda and the Presenting Sponsor and the Gold Record Sponsor was Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. Silver Record sponsors included Best Buy, Siro DeGasperis and Whole Foods Market West Palm Beach. Vinyl Record sponsors included CBIZ, John C. Cassidy Air Conditioning and Marriott Resort Palm Beach Singer Island.
Underwriters went above and beyond to help make the event a success: McDonalds (dinner for the Club members), Pepsi (bottled water) and Whole Foods West Palm Beach (refreshments & hors d’oeuvres). Best Buy Palm Beach Gardens provided twenty five volunteers for the evening as well.
Prior to the event, the Max M. Fisher Boys & Girls Club partnered with Whole Foods West Palm Beach at their grand opening February 25, to receive 1% of total sales, and with Lilly Pulitzer at The Gardens Mall on April 11 to receive 10% of sales between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Max M. Fisher Boys & Girls Clubs of Riviera Beach, one of thirteen Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County. This Club provides services during non-school hours, as well as Summer Camp opportunities, to over 500 boys and girls from ages 6-18 in Riviera Beach. The Club emphasizes educational, vocational, social recreational, health, leadership and character building skills in a positive and safe atmosphere. Through quality programs, the Club experience provides children with the guidance they need to make a healthy transition from childhood to young adulthood.
