Proceeds Benefit Club children

WELLINGTON, Florida (January 27, 2015) – A crowd of more than 300 guests came together to “Shake, Rattle-n-Roll” and raised a record breaking $296,000, as the Neil S. Hirsch Family Boys & Girls Club celebrated its 27th Annual Wellington Dinner Dance on Friday, January 9th. This year’s chairmen were Georgina Bloomberg, Dr. Dana Desser and Carol Sollak.  The 1950s themed event was the first in history to be held at the Boys & Girls Club location.

The dollars raised will assist the organization in serving 100 additional children at the club daily.  “We were so pleased with the generosity of our chairs and all of the guests in helping to make this goal a reality for the organization,” said Jaene Miranda, President & CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County.  “The funds will underwrite the caring staff that provide fun & educational activities for the children.”

The event kicked off with an airstream trailer at the entrance of the Club where guests got their first sip of the signature root beer float cocktail. They then got the opportunity to walk through the Club as they took a look at the impressive silent auction that included dinner baskets, a BMW bicycle, hotel stays and much more.

Guests were then ushered into the Boys & Girls Club gym where the Doo Wop Mob was playing classic 1950s music, the Club members performed a rocking dance to “Rock Around the Clock” and two screens featured movie classics and dancing to set the sock hop mood. Guests were then treated to dinner by Aaron’s Catering and following dinner was a live auction with auctioneer Todd Barron. Fabulous items were auctioned off including a chance to be Sherriff for a Day, a beautiful pair of 18k white gold diamond earrings from Polo Jewelers, a week stay in Islamorada, polo lessons with Nic Roldan, Jeff Hall, Brandon Phillips and Kris Kampsen, tickets to the American Music Awards, a Miami Marlins VIP experience package and two rounds of golf with PGA Tour professionals Briny Baird and Ken Duke.

Afterwards, guests got their fill at two of the sundae, malts and milkshake stations and danced to the sweet music by Kitty Carmichael. While leaving, they had an opportunity to re-visit the airstream trailer and fill their bags at the candy bar, which featured over 20 different types of candy.
