City of Boca Raton Proclaims Boys & Girls Club Day on February 6, 2015

Boca Raton, FL (January 22, 2014) –  The City of Boca Raton plans to rally around the Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton for  “Boys & Girls Club Day of Boca Raton,” officially proclaimed by Mayor Susan Haynie on Friday, February 6, 2015.

Mayor Susan Haynie, members of City Council, the Boca Raton Chamber, and Boys & Girls Club members plan to celebrate Boys & Girls Club Day on Friday, February 6, 2015 at 3:30pm at the Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton, located at 300 Newcastle Street in Boca Raton. Members of the community and media are invited to attend. Capping off this historic event, the Boca Raton Resort & Club has generously underwritten a family fun BBQ on the Club campus, complete with entertainment provided by a DJ.

Mayor Susan Haynie signed the proclamation on behalf of the City Commission and is calling upon Boca Raton residents to join in recognizing and commending the Boys & Girls Club in the area for its commitment to promoting the education and improving the lives of children and at-risk youth in the community.

“The City of Boca Raton has always supported its local Boys & Girls Club and we are thrilled to celebrate this special day with the entire community. We are very grateful to our community partners, as their continued support of our efforts is critical to all we do,” says Zakir Odhwani and Kathryn Gillespie, Chairmen of the Board of Directors at the Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton. “We would also like to encourage everyone to participate in the 2015 Tennis Tournament on Sunday, February 8th at the Boca Raton Resort & Club. This event will help raise awareness and funds necessary to support our future Club leaders and allow the Club to continue to have a positive impact on the lives of the children in our community.”

The Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton serves more than 120 children. The Club’s mission is to inspire and enable all young people; especially those that need it the most to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. The Club provides a safe, fun, and educational environment after school and during the summer.  Children participate in a variety of programs in the arts; career development; sports, fitness and recreation; technology; character and leadership development; and health education.

To join in this historic occasion, please visit the Boys & Girls Club of Boca Raton on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 3:30pm to 5:30pm. No RSVP required.
