Brooks Brothers celebrates Barefoot on the Beach
PALM BEACH, FL (December, 2011) – The event may be Barefoot on the Beach but to get to the beach you have to have great style. After a six month renovation and expansion, Brooks Brothers celebrated the re-opening of its Worth Avenue store with the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Beach County as the official kick-off for the 11th annual Barefoot at the Beach party on March 31, 2012.
Combining holiday shopping and a chance to celebrate with friends, the Barefoot committee and friends of the Boys & Girls Clubs jammed the Worth Avenue location .Brooks Brothers, which is America's oldest clothing retailer, has been a fixture in Palm Beach since 1924.
During the evening, while between mingling between the seersucker, oxford and madras, guests also met the ever-dapper designer and author Jeffrey Banks who signed copies of his new book Preppy: Cultivating Ivy Style. The beautiful coffee table book is an interesting look at the origins of Preppy style and how it has endured through generations. A 1920's vintage image of a Brooks Brothers regatta jacket, oxford and repp tie is featured on the cover and Brooks Brothers has re-issued limited editions of these items. Palm Beach plays a large role in the book and its forward was written by Lilly Pulitzer.
"We couldn't think of a better way to celebrate our re-opening than with the loyal supporters of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Palm Beach County," said Arthur Wayne, Brooks Brothers' Vice President of Global Public Relations. "Barefoot on the Beach has become one of the most anticipated events of the season and is certainly among the most fun.”
Other shop-aholics on hand include, Katherine Shenamen, Scott Velozo, Chrissy Poorman and Doug Luce, Penny and Keith Williams, Will Corrente, Kate and Alex Donner, Laura Evans, Danielle Moore, Sylvia James, David Lambert and XXXXX, Stephen Mooney, Nicole and Kim Fonesca, James Beasley, Beth Beattie , Beau Breckenridge, Scott Moses, Rick Moeser,
The 11th Annual Barefoot on the Beach will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012. More than 400 party goers will hit the sand for an evening of dining and dancing at the Breaker’s Beach Club. The beach bash has a history of selling out every year and promises to do so again this year. Chairing the much anticipated event are Reid Boren, Taylor Collins and Blair and Stuart Kirwan.
Proceeds from “Barefoot on the Beach” go towards the 13 Boys & Girls Clubs throughout Palm Beach County, which provide a safe haven for children ages 6-18 during non-school hours.
